How does Pick up / Drop off Catering work?

Chef prepared catering brings the care of our kitchen to your table, office or event. Cooking from scratch with thoughtfully sourced ingredients, beautifully presented and ready to serve. Pick up / drop off catering makes hosting effortless with chef quality food, without the cost of on-site chefs and staff.

Pick up - Drive through our DERU Market pick up lane. Our team will bring your order out to your car and assist you loading it.

Delivery - When we deliver, we will carry in your order to your desired location. We will ensure all your questions are answered for the succeed of your event.

How is the food presented for Drop off / Pick Up Catering?

How is it presented?
- Our base presentation is in foil tins lined with parchment
- We offer upgrades of compostable platters or our stylist services with our food plated at your event on our wood, ceramic or enamel platters.

How far do you deliver?

We currently offer deliveries for orders with a $250 minimum within a 10 mile drivable distance from our Kirkland location. Prices based on delivery distance.

How early should I place my order?

We encourage ordering as soon as possible. Certain days or times may become limited or sold out. We offer ordering up to 60 days in advance.

We are cooking from scratch, with the highest quality in mind, our capacity is based on what we can do well for our guests!

How late can I place my order?

We are cooking your order from scratch. Listed below is the minimum amount of time needed to process and produce your catering order

Sandwiches & Salads: 24 hours, 2pm cut off

Appetizers: 48 hours, 2pm cut off.

Mains & Sides: 48 hours, 2pm cut off.

Cakes: 48 hours, 2pm cut off.

LARGE ORDERS MAY REQUIRE ADDITIONAL TIME

*These times are subject to change due to black out dates, holiday closures and busier seasons where increased order time is needed.

The date I want is not available on the online store?

Sold Out - some dates sell out early.

Limited Availability - November 16th - December 31st our availability becomes limited quickly due to high volume catering.

Cancellation

For a full refund we require 48 hours notice from your pickup date to cancel your order in full. Because we must schedule and prepare everything from scratch, we are unable to refund or credit any order after 48 hours.

Substitutions

DERU Catering is proud to cook with seasonal ingredients from small local farms whenever possible. At this time, with supply chains obstructed, we may make ingredient substitutions without notice. They will always be changes of excellent quality. 

Black Out Dates

Black out dates may be dates we are only available in a limited capacity, sold out completely or closed. 

If your catering order falls on a black out date please fill out this form and our catering sales team will get back to you with availability.

Wednesday, December 17th - Saturday, December 27th

  • Thursday, January 1st (New Years Day)

Other dates not listed here may sell out. If the date that you are interested is not available for check out on our online store, please fill out this form and our catering sales team will get back to you within 24 hours regarding our availability.  Thank you!

CAKES

When should I place my order?

We encourage you to place your order early. 

We take orders up to 60 days in advance. 

We ask for a minimum of 48 hours notice (some dates may be sold out or quantities limited) , but ordering further out is a great idea! We are baking each cake fresh, from scratch creating a limited capacity. 

How many people does a cake serve?

It depends! It is all about how you cut the cake! In our restaurant we slice the cake in extra large generous slices designed for sharing. Below is a recommendation based off of standard single serving slices that work well for many of our guests. If you prefer a larger slice per person, size up!

6" Cake - 8 to 10 guests

9" Cake - 12 to 24 guests

12" Cake - 24 to 36 guests

What is your cancellation policy?

For a full refund we need 48 hours notice from your pickup date. 

We know emergencies come up, please reach out and we will let you know what options we have.

How should I store my cake?

Our cakes are best held at room temperature. Our cakes hold well for one day. If you are serving your cake the next day, the cake is best on the counter overnight. 

If you are getting a cake in the small window of time in the PNW that it is above 70 degrees, please keep the cake in an air-conditioned room or cool garage until ready to serve. (Not in your hot car for too long!)

Do you make Gluten Free cakes?

We no NOT currently offer gluten free cakes. We do make other gluten free desserts. Contact our catering team for more information: info@derucatering.com

Do you make custom cakes?

We do not currently offer custom cakes.

Do you offer cupcakes or sheet cakes?

+

Those are great cake styles, but they are not DERU’s. Round cakes are the only style we bake.
